What is yoga? Yoga is many things... it is a method of breaking contact with pain; of making oneself whole; of unification between the body and mind. Yoga is the the practice of removing obstacles that keep us from finding peace and joy. I study yoga and practice its application in every aspect of life – from work to family, from food to drink. I believe that the most basic recipe for a happy life is balance and moderation.
Since the 2000, I’ve been studying yoga - not just reading and taking a few classes here and there, but taking yoga and turning it upside down, stretching it right and left and trying time and time again to test its limits. I have traveled extensively and lived in many different cities and states since the age of 18: from Illinois to Missouri, Connecticut, Manhattan & Brooklyn, New Mexico, California, Tennessee, back to New York and now at home in Florida. I’ve also traveled extensively overseas to Mexico, France, Italy, Spain, Scotland and more. My travels and studies have afforded me an opportunity that most are unable to explore… the depths of what we are all searching for.
My repertoire of yogic literature includes the Bhagavad Gita, the Upanishads, the Untethered Soul, the Yoga Sutras, Light on Yoga, Bikram’s two books, Man’s Eternal Quest, a Course in Miracles, numerous publications from Thich Nhat Hanh, Eckhart Tolle, Dr. Wayne Dyer, Dr. John Sarno, Dianne Allen and a great deal more.
My skill is in communication and practical application. Most of us know deep down that we need to take more time for our own health and well-being but not having the time to practice these applications or find the exact methods that work, we begin to lose faith that we know what’s right and just fall in line, coaxed into place by media and societal pressures. We begin to lose sight of who we are… maybe we never even had it in the first place. To cope, we over eat, binge, over-exercise, are sedentary, become mindless and desensitized to just about everything around us. Good news! You only need the right tools to reconnect with your self on a deeper level. But where does one start? I would wager you've "tried" yoga and maybe it wasn't for you, maybe you hate tight shorts, maybe you find it boring or you just aren't flexible enough. I'm sure you have a bevy of reasons.
First things first, let's begin at the beginning. I’ll find out what is important to you, what you want to accomplish and what's holding you back, then we get to work… we’ll talk nutrition, what’s worked and what hasn’t, then balance this out with your job, exercise, personal life and free time. Once and for all you will get a handle on how to act instead of re-act, how to retrain your mind so that you will always be able to heal yourself from the inside out. In a nutshell, I will teach you yoga. You will love it.
